SPREADING HOPE
Events
Two fundraising events are put on by 100% volunteer effort each year.
CHANNEL YOUR FLANNEL
Project Joy’s hosts this annual themed fund raising event in late October. The Duluth Curling Club donates their club room space, and participants enjoy chili, soups, hors d’oeuvres, desserts and tasty tidbits from the charcuterie board. Red and black buffalo check clothing is the style.
There is a silent auction of items donated by friends and vendors, and live auctions of scrumptious desserts are part of the entertainment. There is also a gift card “wall of chance” and Project Joy mugs and other items for sale.
The 2025 “Channel Your Flannel” raised $38,306 in event proceeds and donations.
Since 2002 House of Hearts has raised $1,609,190 for charity.

HOUSE OF HEARTS CHARITY BONSPEIL
The largest money maker the organization does annually is the HOH Bonspiel, held in March. Celebrity curlers from all over the world are invited to participate. 32 world ranked players travel to Duluth, MN to skip a team of regular club curlers in a bonspiel.
Think of this like any pro/amateur event. The skips are Olympic medal winners, national, and world champions from many countries. In 2026 the two silver Olympic medalists, Korey Dropkin and Cory Christianson were some of the skips participating. Each celebrity skip donates their time to travel to Duluth and play in the event with three amateurs to raise money “for the kids”. The non-skip participants pay a fee to enter and earn incentives by the levels of donations they raise. People who raise over $1,250 have the privilege of choosing which skip’s team they will play on and pick their position of play.
In 2026, we raised $169,848. An anonymous donor gave an additional $300,000 at the event.
Live and silent auctions, along with raffles and mini competitions throughout the weekend continue to increase the total over the donations raised by the participants. Contestants come from all over the country; a group of 7 – 9 curlers attend annually from Hollywood, CA.
